Air Quality Egg Distribution Map
If you have not heard of the Air Quality Egg (AQE as it is referred to in the Google Group) is community initiative to provide an open source platform for the collection of air quality and other metrics. Disclaimer: I backed the project’s kickstarter campaign. As open source initiatives go, its got it all:
– A budding and knowledgeable community discussing over on google groups
– Code hosted on github
– OSHW based on other OSHW, hosted on Solder Pad and engineered by many, including reputable folk at Wiked Devices
– A decent wiki which can’t keep up with the flurry of changes going on at the moment
– Evangelists who are willing to put their necks out there to push an idea into reality
The egg is still being developed and has is now overdue with regards to what was initially stated on the kickstarter campaign. Personally, I think this is great because I’ve attempted to follow the discussions and developments and there is some really great stuff happening which I feel will make this a solid and attractive element which helps us understand what we breathe, or at least get the gist of it.
So where are these eggs going to be installed? This map by Simone Cortesi shows the future home to the AQEs which is generated from the address of the backers of the kickstarter campaign.
